The Exhibition of the Century: Art in the 20th Century - Modern Masterpieces from the Collection of the Stedlijk Museum

This major international exhibition was the highlight of City Gallery Wellington's 1998 exhibitions programme. The paintings and sculptures were drawn from the collection of the prestigious Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, one of the leading institutions for modern art in the world.

This was the second project which has involved a collaboration between City Gallery Wellington and the Stedelijk Museum, following Under Capricorn: The World Over in 1996. 

The exhibition includes significant works by masters such as Van Gogh, Cezanne and Picasso through to Pollock and Judd and acclaimed contemporary artsists, including Julian Schnabel and Jeff Koons.
