There are eight of these monoprints, which were pulled from a cardboard template prepared with diluted ink over which the paper support was then pressed. Gordon H Brown notes that 'During printing, the ink that escaped from being directly transferred from the plate to the paper was absorbed into the rest of the paper as a lighter tone.' As a result, each impression is distinctive.
