This is one of a number of set designs for a performance of Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt, for which McCahon was also stage manager. The play, with music by Edvard Grieg, was performed by the Christchurch Theatre Arts Guild at the Repertory Theatre, 26 May-2 June 1953. (See also the other designs.)
