From a group of comprising mainly working drawings for the Fleischl's
Otago Peninsula, begun early in 1946, of which a number were, at a later date, incorrectly dated 1940 by McCahon. Most of these drawings have a stylistic consistency which suggests that they were produced within a short period and for a similar purpose.
A fragmentary sketch of the landscape from Port Chalmers is found on the reverse of this sheet.
