From a group of comprising mainly working drawings for the Fleischl's Otago Peninsula, begun early in 1946, of which a number were, at a later date, incorrectly dated 1940 by McCahon. This is one of a four drawings probably done after the Fleischl's Otago Peninsula had been begun, but before the studies for Rodney Kennedy's Otago Peninsula painting.
